Answer By law4u team

To apply for land demarcation in India, you need to request the government revenue authority to officially measure and mark the boundaries of your land according to land records. The procedure is governed by state land revenue laws, for example in Gujarat it is regulated under the Gujarat Land Revenue Code, 1879 and related survey rules. The general process begins with submitting an application to the local revenue office such as the Talati, Circle Officer, or Mamlatdar office depending on the state system. The application should include details of the land such as survey number, village name, taluka, district, and purpose of demarcation. You usually need to attach documents such as a copy of land ownership record or record of rights, identity proof of the applicant, property map if available, and any relevant documents related to disputes if demarcation is required due to boundary issues. A prescribed government fee must also be paid along with the application. After submission, the revenue authority schedules a site visit. A government surveyor or official visits the land, measures it using official records and maps, and marks the boundaries on the ground. Nearby landowners may also be informed or called during the process to avoid disputes. Once the demarcation is completed, an official report or measurement sketch is prepared and provided. This document can be used as legal evidence in case of disputes or for future transactions such as sale, fencing, or construction.

Dear client, To apply for a demarcation of land, an individual would have to approach the local revenue authority that is generally the Tehsildar or Taluk Office, with an application for identification and marking of the precise boundaries of the land. The application shall contain details such as number of surveys, place of the land and purpose of demarcation of the land, supporting documents such as title deed, RTC/record of rights, identity proof of applicant etc. After the filing of the application after paying the prescribed fee, revenue authorities will fix the site for inspection. A government surveyor visits the land, checks records and physically measures and marks out the boundaries in the presence of the concerned persons and adjacent landowners. Once the process completion is done an official demarcation report or sketch is issued which is used as a legal proof of the boundaries of land available and could be used in case of any dispute or for future transaction purposes. Dear Client, The official process for demarcating land involves the identification and marking of land parcel boundaries which exist in revenue records. The application process begins with an applicant approaching the relevant revenue authority who usually functions as the Tahsildar or Survey Department according to the Karnataka Land Revenue Act of 1964 which enables survey officers to perform boundary determination and land demarcation work. The applicant must submit a written request along with documents including title deed, Record of Rights (RTC), survey number details, and identity proof, along with the prescribed fee. The authority begins the application process by sending notifications to neighboring landowners who need to receive information about the application. The surveyor receives a work assignment that requires him to conduct fieldwork for the purpose of marking property boundaries with official maps and survey records while all stakeholders remain present. The authority resolves disputes through adjudication which relies on revenue records together with survey maps. The demarcation report prepared thereafter becomes an official record of boundary determination. Any party who believes themselves to be wronged by the demarcation process has the right to contest the demarcation results through an appeal to the appellate revenue authority as established by Section 136 of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act. The entire process is administrative in nature but has legal significance in resolving boundary disputes. The demarcation report, survey sketches, and related records serve as documentary evidence which parties can present in civil or revenue proceedings to establish the exact boundaries of the contested property according to Section 61 and 63 of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023.
